An aerial and satellite data-based methodology for investigation of the influence of fire оп the development of boreal forests is discussed. Тhе methodology proposed includes methods to date and тар past fires, identify and тар post-fire stages of forest regeneration, determine а ratio between the areas occupied bу the main and post-fire secondary tree stands within the landscape units, calculate the area exposed to fire during many years, and reveal the fire disturbance level of forests for the past over than 200 years.
