Seasonal reflectivity of pine forests was studied using a multifrequency radar polarimetric complex. An anomalous seasonal back scatter was determined within a range of L, P, and VHF. The water regime of different pine tree is suggested to be responsible for this phenomenon. Seasonal changes in moisture of wood (stem), branches, and needles of trees are most notable in cold periods at sharp fluctuations of air temperature. Specific features of the water regime in different tree elements explain the reflectivity of pine forests within ranges of L and P.
