Relations between soils and quality class of forests were studied at the Central Forest State Nature Biosphere reserve (Tver oblast) in 1984-2004 based on the data on the data on forest management (1939-1940, 1971-1973, 1984-1985, 1990), materials of large--scale soil mapping in 1984-1998, and the results of studies on 60 sample plots. There is some probable relation between the forest type, forest quality class, and soil that is expressed in the facts that the same forest type can develop on different soil types and in various sites, in differences of quality classes by 2-4 units within the same type of forest or on the same soil type or in the same habitat.
