A.B. Lysikov The Influence of Recreation on the Soil Cover State the in Urban Deciduous Forests // Forest Science (Lesovedenie). 2011. No 4. С.11-20.

The intensity and scope of anthropogenic influence on the soil cover of recreation forests were assessed on the basis of the results obtained in studying the deciduous plantations in the urban part of the Serebryanoborskii Experimental Forestry. Significant changes in the physical and chemical properties of the loamy sandy soils were found to take place under the influence of recreation. In some areas, the thickness of the soil transformed by recreation is 40-50 cm. The adversely transformed stands occupy a considerable part (15-20%) of the forested territory that exceeds or corresponds to the area of degradation. Under intense anthropogenic loads, paths with disturbed or destroyed soils forming a transit polygonal network become centers of developing degradation of the soil cover in recreation forests.

Recreation, city forests, forest soil, soil density, ecosystem, degradation.
