G.G. Farukshina, V.P. Putenikhin Structure of coenopopulations of Juniperus communis L. in the South Urals and Cis-Urals // Forest Science (Lesovedenie). 2012. No 1. С.48-55.

In the Bashkir and Udmurtian Cis-Urals, Juniperus communis L. coenopopulations differ from those in the South Urals by density, composition of life forms, age and sexual structure. In the study region, this species is represented by different life forms from spreading shrubs to one-stem trees of size III. In the South Urals, juniper coenopopulations are denser than those in the Cis-Urals. According to age structure, the latter are determined as mature, incomplete, and decreasing populations; the coenopopulations of the South Urals are growing mature and complete ones. Male individuals predominate in the sexual spectrum. The majority of the coenopopulations is healthy. The condition of the Juniperus communis gene pool is relatively satisfactory; however, the disturbed age structure, especially in the Cis-Urals, needs measures for preservation of the juniper populations.
