The relations between the anthocyanidin (group of phenol compounds) accumulation in Scots pine needles and resistance of pine to ordinary schotte disease and growth indices of trees from provenance trials in different sites were studied. The participation of these compounds in forming the growth structure of populations and the possibility to select trees and cultures with potentially elevated resistance to the influence of biotic and abiotic factors are shown.
