V. G. Storozhenko Characterization of Current Deadwood and Slash in Natural Spruce Forests of East European Taiga // Forest Science (Lesovedenie). 2012. No 3. С.43-50. The possibility to study balance processes of biomass accumulation and decomposition in forest communities is discussed. Deadwood is considered as an important participant of forest biogeocenosis in the biomass accumulation and decomposition. In native undamaged forest communities, current reserves of deadwood and slash are determined (in absolute and relative units) as one of the biomass structures in developing forests. The mean values of these parameters that are considered as typical ones for native forests communities are calculated. They may be used as the reference values among the those characterizing balance processes of biomass accumulation and decomposition in forest communities.
