K. S. Bobkova, N. V. Likhanova Losses of Carbon and Mineral Nutrients in Clear Cuttings of Spruce Forests in the Middle Taiga // Forest Science (Lesovedenie). 2012. No 6. С.44-54. The accumulation of carbon and mineral nutrients in the phytomass of the middle taiga old-growth spruce forests on the peaty-podzolic-gleyic soils is assessed. In the course of winter clear cutting and tree-length operations with treatment of crowns, from a cut area of 1 ha in the blueberry spruce forest, 37.82 t C and 351 kg of mineral nutrients are removed; in the haircap-moss-sphagnum spruce forest, 36.49 t и 355 kg, respectively. Under the conditions considered, more than half of the chemical element reserves of the stands is left in the felled area.
