The variability of radial growth of 17-year-old Scots pine plantations after treatment of seeds with chemical super-mutagens (nitromethylurea, nitrosodymethylurea, and dimethyl sulfate) was investigated. A single treatment with super-mutagens at concentrations of 0.05 and 0.1% during 24 h was found to have a significant long-term impact on the variability of radial increment in pine. The main effect of the chemical mutagens resulted in the significant changes in the average increments of early and especially late wood and increase in the level of variability of the increments. The genotypic differences in sensitivity to mutagens were revealed between half-sibs. The combined significant influence of the mutagen-family factors on the radial increment was observed. As the age of the plantations became lower, the influence of mutagens on the dynamics of forest growth was reduced, and genetic differences between half-sibs became higher.
