I. L. Vakhnina, L. V. Zamana The Influence of Contamination of the Snow and Soil Cover on the Germination of Scotch Pine Seeds in the Chita Green Zone // Forest Science (Lesovedenie). 2013. No 2. С.38-44.

The results of experiments on the germination of Pinus sylvestris L. seeds collected in forests in the vicinity of the city of Chita are presented. The germination of seeds in the soil, as well as of seeds moistened with snow water was analyzed. The chemical elements in the water of snow taken from the polluted areas significantly increased the seed germinative power. The multiyear pollutant accumulation in the soil cover, primarily of heavy metals (lead and zinc) decreased the germinability of seeds.
