The influence of selective cuttings on the nitrogen pool in soddy-podzolic soils of Krasnoyarsk forest-steppe is considered. In the first year after cutting, the contents of easily hydrolizable nitrogen-containing compounds decreased, and the concentration of mineral nitrogen became higher. The capability of mineralization was lowered and manifested itself to a greater extent in the litters of apiarian plots in the felled areas. The different directions of the nitrogen metabolism, which were revealed in the first year after cuttings, were related not only to the intensity of cuttings, but also to the type of the technological territory and local conditions of the sites investigated.
