The dynamics of defoliation and sanitary state of trees in 2007-12, and relations between these indicators in the outbreak of European pine sawfly (Neodiprion sertifer Geoffr.) was studied in case of 40- and 20-years old Scotch pine stands (Pinus sylvestris L.) in a fresh subor habitat in Luhansk Oblast. Sanitary state of the 20-year old stand was worse than the 40-year old one during 2007-12. The way of accounting of the share of trees with altered category of sanitary state during the European pine sawfly epidemics for the forest site studied.
