The dynamics of the leaves number, leaves growing longevity, leaves lifespan, and formation of the surface area of laminas at consequently developing metamers were studied during the vegetative season. The period of acme of the leaf apparatus was found, and the leaf surface area equations for this period were found for of the alder and the birch poles and stands were obtained. The possibilities to use the leading leaves of the shoot as the model objects for the trees for ecological, morphological and physiological regularities studies are discussed.
