Melentyev V.V. , Matelenok I.V. Technique for landscape belts discrimination in Siberian natural zones based on satellite microwave radiometry // Forest Science (Lesovedenie). 2014. No 5. С.54-64.

A new technique for discrimination of Siberian landscapes using satellite microwave radiometry data is developed. It is based on two algorithms of automatized classification and two sets of informative features - indicators of seasonal and inter-annual microwave signatures variability. The technique is tested over the territories of Western Siberia along the 70°E transect (tundra, forest tundra, taiga, deciduous forest, forest steppe and steppe landscape zones) based on 2003-2011 AMSR-E microwave radiometer imagery archive. Efficiency of the technique is evaluated by comparison of the obtained satellite maps with conventional land system maps.
