Here we present a retrospective of the windthrows in forests of southern belt of taiga (Kostroma Oblast and the neighboring lands). Main traits of the massive windthrows are calculated. Dominant spatial forms of windthrows are identified. Annual rates of the forest cover disturbance from clearcuts, forest fires and windblows are compared. Topographical effect on spatial distribution of compartments of the massive windthrows is studied.
