Nikitenko E.A. Multiple Tops of Korean Pine on Seed Plantations // Forest Science (Lesovedenie). 2010. No 1. P. 46-52 (in Russian).

The factors affecting the development of the Pinus koraiensis (Sieb. et Zucc.) multiple tops and of its crowns were revealed on graft and seed plantations as compared to this process in trees of virgin forests in the southern Far East. They are as follows: (1) mechanical damage at early age; (2) activity of pests; (3) damage of shoots by wild animals; (4) destruction of shoots due to great mass of cones in years with high yield; (5) damage resulted from abundant snowfall. The dependence of the yield of some trees and clones on the number of tops, crown size, and other biometric attributes was shown. The total productivity of graft and seed plantations was determined.
