The materials of long-term studies of bogs conducted in the Usa River basin (a tributary of the Pechora River) are summarized. The following types of bogs were distinguished: flat mound bog, large-mound (palsa) bog, and aapa bogs. Specific features of these bogs and the structure of the plant cover are related to the distribution of permafrost, which in late July was observed at a depth of 30 50 cm. The bog plant communities limited to different microrelief elements, their floristic composition, strati graphic structure of peatlands, and chemical composition of bog water are characterized.
