Stavrova N.I., Gorshkov V.V., Katyutin P.N. Dynamics of Tree Distribution in Siberian Spruce and White Birch Populations According to Trunk Diameter in the Course of Postfire Succession in Northern Taiga Spruce Forests // Forest Science (Lesovedenie). 2010. No 3. P. 21-31 (in Russian).

Dynamics of the size structure of Picea obovata Ledeb. and Betula pubescens Ehrh. populations in the course of postfire restoration of spruce forests were studied in Kola Peninsula (67°30'-68°l0' N, 33°57'-34°21' E). Spruce and birch communities of the green moss type have been formed over 45 400 years after the last fire. The Weibull function was used as a model for the approximation of tree distribution by trunk diameter at the ground level. This allows to distinguish three main stages of the populations size structure dynamics. In the northern taiga spruce forests, the size structure of the Picea obovata and Betula pubescens populations is stabilized completely within 300 350 and 200 years after fire, respectively.
