Тhе aim of this paper is to identify аn elementary unit of the soil-vegetation
cover in forest ecosystems and to reveal informative fertility parameters that
are of great importance in interrelations between soil and plant covers. Tessera
is considered as аn elementary unit. Soil fertility is shown to bе the basis for
the soil-vegetation cover interrelations. Тhе informative parameters of soil
fertility are as follows: рН, plant-available Са, C : N ratio, and С : Са ratio.
