А new method for reconstructing the years of Larix sibirica defoliation by insects, fungi, and toxic gases for two decades according to the seasonal increments of brachyblasts is рroposed. As needles are damaged in summer, they do not inhibit the brachyblast growth; as а resu1t of arousing a wintering bud, the brachyblast forms two seasonal increments for а year. This seasonal increment for a year. This seasonal increment is easily identified on longitudinal sections. Five or six branches of the first order collected from ten trees are sufficient to obtain statistically significant rеsults.
