Kontsevaya I. I. Тhе Use оf Antibiotics in Birch Tissue Culture // Forest Science (Lesovedenie). 2011. No.1. P. 45-51 (in Russian).

The influence of carbenicil1in, cefotaxime, gentamycin, streptomycin, and augmentin added to nutrition medium оn the growth and development of nodal segments in shoots of different birch species at the stage of mu1tip1ication was studied. The app1ication of gentamycin and streptomycin at concentrations of 100-300 and 500-1000 mg 1-1, respective1y, was shown to affect negative1y the culture of birch tissues. At the shoot mu1tip1ication stage, the periodic app1ication of cefotaxime in combination with carbenicillin at 500-750 mg 1-1 was optima1. This schedu1e of cu1tivation permits to visually sustain the steri1e cu1ture of birch tissues for а 1ong time without adverse responses of the antibiotics to the morphological parameters of microplants.

Microplants of birch, sterile cultures, bacterial contamination, antibiotics.
